Welcome to the 54th WEFTA Conference

It is our great pleasure to invite you to participate in the 54th West European Fish Technologists Association (WEFTA) Conference, to be held in Reykjavík, Iceland, from 12th to 16th October 2026. The WEFTA conference is an annual meeting that brings together scientists, students, research institutes, and seafood industry representatives working in seafood processing, aquaculture, food science, biotechnology, sustainability, quality and safety, and consumer-related research. WEFTA provides a valuable platform for presenting scientific results, exchanging knowledge and experiences, and establishing new scientific and professional collaborations across academia and industry.

WEFTA 2026 is organised by Matís, the University of Iceland & University of Akureyri, and will take place in Reykjavík, a city closely connected to the ocean, seafood innovation, and the sustainable utilisation of marine resources. The conference programme will include keynote lectures, oral and poster presentations, industry visits, and opportunities for networking and collaboration.

We warmly invite you to submit abstracts for presentations and posters within the conference themes presented on the following pages.

We look forward to welcoming you to Reykjavík in October 2026.
